Sizing

Downspout sizing, rule of thumb.

Undersized downspouts are the most common reason gutters overflow. These are starting points — heavy-rain areas, steep roofs, and valleys that dump into the gutter need more capacity.

Why 24 gauge steel

Typical residential aluminum gutter is thin and dents under a ladder or a hailstorm. 24 ga steel holds its shape, spans farther between hangers, and stands up to Texas hail and heat.

It also comes off the same painted coil as a 24 ga standing seam roof — so gutters, downspouts, trim, and panels all match.

What to send us

How a custom order works

Sketch to finished metal.

  1. Send it over

A drawing, field measurements, a photo, or the piece itself. Rough is fine.

  2. We confirm

We check dimensions, profile, color, and gauge with you before anything gets cut.

  3. We build it

Cut and bent in our Sherman shop from the same coil as your roof panels.

  4. Get it to the job

Pick it up in Sherman, or ask us about delivery to your job site.

Questions

Common questions.

Why use 24 gauge steel gutters instead of aluminum?

24 gauge steel is much stiffer than typical residential aluminum gutter. It resists dents from ladders, limbs, and hail, spans farther between hangers, and comes from the same painted coil as a 24 gauge standing seam roof, so the color and finish match.

What size gutter and downspout do I need?

It depends on the roof area draining to each downspout, the roof pitch, and local rainfall. As a rough rule, a 2x3 downspout handles about 600 square feet of roof and a 3x4 handles about 1,200. Send us the roof plan or the run lengths and we'll size the gutter and downspouts with you.

How far apart should downspouts be?

A common rule is a downspout every 30 to 40 feet of gutter, and at least one on every run. Long runs, steep roofs, and valleys that dump into the gutter need more.

Can you match my roof color?

Yes. Gutters and downspouts are formed from the same painted coil on our color chart as our standing seam panels, in PVDF or SMP paint systems, or in Galvalume.

Do you make box gutters and built-in gutter liners?

Yes. We fabricate commercial box gutters and liners to your girth and profile, with end caps, expansion joints, and scupper or outlet tubes.

Do you install gutters?

We fabricate and supply. Contractors and installers pick up or take delivery; if you need an installer, ask and we can point you in the right direction.

Need something custom?

Send us your run lengths.

We'll price the gutter, downspouts, and every fitting as one package.
