Scuppers & collector boxes · Sherman & DFW

Conductor heads & scuppers.

Conductor heads, collector boxes, through-wall scuppers, and overflow scuppers — built to your opening and downspout size in 24 ga steel and any color on our chart.

Fortified Metals fabricates conductor heads (collector boxes) and through-wall scuppers sized to your parapet opening and downspout, with optional overflow openings and decorative fronts.

What we make

From parapet to downspout.

On a low-slope roof with parapet walls, water leaves through a scupper, drops into a conductor head, and runs down the downspout. We build every piece so they fit together.

  • Conductor headsPlain and decorative collector boxes sized to the scupper and downspout
  • Through-wall scuppersScupper sleeves with flanges that tie into the roof membrane
  • Overflow scuppersSecondary-drainage scuppers set above the primary
  • Overflow openingsFront overflow on the head so a clog shows instead of backing up
  • DownspoutsMatching downspouts, elbows, and straps

What to send us

  • Scupper opening — width and height
  • Wall thickness through the parapet
  • Downspout size and shape
  • Roof system the scupper flange ties into
  • Style — plain or decorative, and color
  • A photo of the wall

Sized so it doesn't overflow

A conductor head that's too small splashes water down the wall in a hard rain. We size the box wider than the scupper so the water lands inside, and match the outlet to the downspout so it drains as fast as it fills.

Primary and secondary drainage sizing comes from the roof designer — send the drawings if you have them.

How a custom order works

Sketch to finished metal.

  1. Send it over

A drawing, field measurements, a photo, or the piece itself. Rough is fine.

  2. We confirm

We check dimensions, profile, color, and gauge with you before anything gets cut.

  3. We build it

Cut and bent in our Sherman shop from the same coil as your roof panels.

  4. Get it to the job

Pick it up in Sherman, or ask us about delivery to your job site.

Questions

Common questions.

What is a conductor head?

A conductor head, also called a collector box or leader head, is a metal box mounted on a wall below a scupper or at the end of a gutter. It collects the water and feeds it into the downspout so it doesn't spill down the wall.

What size conductor head do I need?

The box should be wider than the scupper opening so water lands inside it, and its outlet should match the downspout size. Send us the scupper opening, the wall thickness, and the downspout size and we'll size the box.

What is an overflow scupper?

An overflow scupper is a second, higher opening in the parapet that lets water off the roof if the main drain or scupper clogs. Many low-slope roofs are required to have secondary drainage like this — your roof designer will specify it.

Should a conductor head have an overflow?

Many conductor heads include an overflow opening on the front so that if the downspout clogs, water spills out where you can see it instead of backing up onto the roof. We can add one to any box.

Do you make decorative conductor heads?

Yes. Along with plain commercial boxes, we build decorative styles with shaped fronts and trim, in any color on our chart.
